Best Boneless Sofa Beds of 2026, Sorted by Bed Size
Boneless Couch LivingShare
Quick answer: A boneless sofa bed is a couch with no wood frame that unfolds flat into a bed and ships vacuum-compressed in a box. The thing most listings leave out is the size of the bed you end up with. Below, every boneless sofa bed we sell is measured against a standard twin, full, queen and king mattress. If you want a true full-size bed for the least money, it's the Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 3-Seat, 75"W at $349: its 75 × 54 in sleeping surface is exactly a full. If two adults will share it, the Chenille Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W at $389 opens to 78.9 × 74.8 in, within about an inch of a king in both directions.
What Is a Boneless Bed?
"Boneless" means the piece has no wood frame inside. The seat, back and arms are foam (in some models, foam over a pocket-spring core), so the whole thing can be vacuum-compressed into a box, delivered by a parcel carrier and carried through a normal doorway. A boneless sofa bed (or boneless couch bed) is the convertible version: sit on it by day, then fold the back down, pull out the seat or unfold the tiers to sleep on it at night. Nothing cranks, nothing bolts together, and no metal bar runs across your back.
A boneless bed in the stricter sense is a bed built as one piece, with the base and headboard upholstered over foam and nothing to assemble. We sell one of those too; it's at the end of this list.
Once a piece is unboxed it starts expanding. You can sit or lie on it within a few hours, and it reaches full size in about 72 hours.
Boneless Sofa Bed Sizes vs Standard Mattress Sizes
Standard US mattress sizes, for reference: Twin 38 × 75 in · Full 54 × 75 in · Queen 60 × 80 in · King 76 × 80 in.
Every sleeping surface below comes from the manufacturer's dimension sheet for that exact model. Sizes are length × width.
| Sofa bed | Price | Sleeping surface | Closest standard size | Build | Colors |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sherpa Fleece Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat | $549 | 94.5 × 78.7 in, about 7 in thick | Bigger than a king in both directions | All-foam | 4 |
| Chenille Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W | $389 | 78.9 × 74.8 in | Just under a king (about 1 in shorter and narrower) | Foam over pocket springs | 4 |
| Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 78"W | $439 | 78 × 54 in, about 15 in thick | Full width, 3 in longer than a full | All-foam | 11 |
| Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W × 37"H | $509 | 78.7 × 51.2 in | Nearly full: 2.8 in narrower, 3.7 in longer | Foam over pocket springs | 6 |
| Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 3-Seat, 75"W | $349 | 75 × 54 in | Exactly a full | All-foam | 4 |
| Chenille Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 70"W | $389 | 71.7 × 69.9 in, round | Round; wider than a queen, shorter than a twin is long | All-foam | 2 |
| Chenille Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat | $479 | 64.9 × 53.9 in | Full width, about 10 in shorter than a full | All-foam | 4 |
| Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W × 28"H | $399 | 58 × 44 in | Between twin and full width, 17 in shorter than a twin | All-foam | 1 |
A few things the table shows that a product photo won't:
- Only one of them is exactly a standard size. The 3-Seat, 75"W is a true full. The rest are close to a standard size but not equal to one, so measure before you buy sheets. A flat sheet or a blanket is easier than a fitted sheet on most of them.
- None measures exactly a queen. The 79"W chenille is about 15 in wider than a queen and 1.1 in shorter. The sherpa fleece is bigger than a king. If you searched for a "boneless queen bed", one of those two is the honest answer.
- Length matters more than width for tall sleepers. A full is 75 in long. Four of these beds run 78 in or longer: the sherpa fleece, the two 79"W models and the 78"W corduroy.
The Picks, by What You Need
Best full-size boneless bed: Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 3-Seat, 75"W ($349)
The Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 3-Seat, 75"W is a three-seat floor sofa that unfolds into a 75 × 54 in bed, the same size as a full mattress. There's nothing to pull or unbolt. The tiers open out flat, and an included blanket layer folds in for sitting and out for sleeping. It's all-foam, it comes in Beige, Black, Green and Grey, and at $349 it's the least expensive true full in this list.
If the sleeper is taller, step up to the Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 78"W ($439). It's the same 54 in width with 3 in more length, a three-tier folding mattress about 15 in thick, and 11 colors.
Best for two adults: Chenille Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W ($389)
The Chenille Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W opens to 78.9 × 74.8 in, within about an inch of a king both ways, at $389. The seat and armrests are separate modules. Lay them flat for one double-width bed, or split them into two singles when two guests don't want to share. It's foam over a pocket-spring core, which gives a firmer, more mattress-like feel than all-foam, and there's still no wood frame. Colors: Black, Green, Grey and Khaki.
Biggest bed: Sherpa Fleece Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat ($549)
The Sherpa Fleece Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat opens to 94.5 × 78.7 in, larger than a king in both directions, and about 7 in thick. A buckle inside the seat cushion releases it into a reclining lounger or a fully flat bed. It's all-foam, covered in sherpa fleece, and comes in Black, Dark Blue, Green and Grey. It's the one for sleepovers where everybody ends up on the same bed.
Best spring-core sofa bed: Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W × 37"H ($509)
Prefer a spring feel in corduroy? The Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W × 37"H is foam over pocket springs. Lay the backrest flat and the seat becomes a 78.7 × 51.2 in bed, close to a full but longer. The included 2-in-1 blanket zips into a cushion for sitting and unzips for sleeping. Colors: Beige, Light Grey, Black, Baby Pink, Green and Coffee.
Best for kids and naps: Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W × 28"H ($399)
The Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W × 28"H is a low, 27.5-in-tall sofa, lounger and bed in one, with cup holders and side pockets. Its 58 × 44 in sleeping surface suits a child, a nap, or one adult curled up for movie night. An adult can't stretch out full length on it. It's all-foam and comes in Green.
Round bed: Chenille Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 70"W ($389)
The Chenille Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 70"W folds out into a round 71.7 × 69.9 in sleeping surface. That's more of a nest than a bed, and it's good for reading or napping. It's all-foam and comes in White and Black.
Best boneless bed under $350
Four sofa beds come in at $350 or less:
- Cotton Linen Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, $299. A two-tier folding loveseat that the manufacturer sells as a twin sleeper. Fold the backrest down and it opens flat; folded, it's small enough to stand in a closet. Five colors.
- Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2/3/5-Seat, from $319 for the 2-seat. The seat section pulls out flat, and you choose the length the wall allows, up to the 5-seat at $729. Seven colors.
- Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 3-Seat, 73"W, $329. A pull-out bed: pull the hand strap on the front and the sleeping section slides out flat. Six colors.
- Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 3-Seat, 75"W, $349. The true full from the top of this list.
The rest of the range
These also fold flat into a bed. The manufacturer doesn't publish a measured sleeping surface for them, so we don't print one. Each product page lists the assembled dimensions.
- Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, $359. Modular: stood up, the modules form a wide two-seat sofa; laid flat, they form a single sleeping surface. A metal reinforcement bracket ships separately and clips underneath.
- Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 79"W, $369. The back and arms fold down into one continuous surface. Support rods along the side and back keep the arms in place when it's a sofa. Six colors.
- Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 74"W, $399. The same fold-flat design in a narrower 74 in footprint, in Beige or Black.
- Corduroy Boneless Sofa Bed — 2-Seat, 81"W, $519. A three-way fold: loveseat, lounger or flat folding mattress. Seven colors.
Want a bed, not a sofa? Chenille Boneless Bed ($669)
The Chenille Boneless Bed isn't a convertible. It's a bed built in one piece, with the upholstered base, headboard and sleep surface together: foam over a steel spring core, no wood frame, delivered compressed with nothing to assemble. Its overall footprint, headboard included, is 59 × 82.7 in and 33.5 in high. That's close to a queen's footprint, but it's the outside measurement, not a mattress size, so don't buy queen fitted sheets on that number alone. It comes in Light Khaki + Beige.
Are Boneless Beds Worth It?
For the right job, yes. A boneless sofa bed is made for guest nights, sleepovers, a few nights in a row, and falling asleep in front of the TV. The sleeping surface is foam, sometimes over springs, without the dedicated support layers a real mattress has. If someone will sleep on it every night, buy them a proper mattress instead.
Where boneless sofa beds win is everything around the sleep:
- Getting it in. These arrive vacuum-compressed in carry-in boxes, most of them a single box, by parcel carrier. No freight truck, no delivery appointment, and they fit through standard doorways, elevators and stairwells.
- Nothing to break. A pull-out sleeper has a metal mechanism and a thin mattress folded inside it. A boneless sofa bed has no frame, hinge or crank to bend, so the sofa is the bed.
- Moving it later. With no frame inside, it slides to another room easily, and it goes with you when you move.
How Much Does a Boneless Bed Cost?
In our range, boneless sofa beds run from $299 (Cotton Linen, 2-seat) to $549 (Sherpa Fleece, king-plus surface), with the modular 5-seat at $729 and the one-piece Chenille Boneless Bed at $669. Shipping is free within the US. Orders ship within 1 business day by UPS or FedEx ground and arrive in 3–10 business days door to door.
Does Boneless Furniture Last?
How long it lasts comes down to the foam, not the missing frame. Cheap, low-density foam sags within a year or two of daily use. Denser foam holds its shape for years. We go through the numbers in How Long Does a Boneless Couch Last?. A sofa bed that's slept on now and then sees much less wear than a sofa sat on every evening.
How to Compare Any Boneless Sofa Bed
Whether you buy from us or anyone else, ask for these before you check out:
- The measured sleeping surface, length × width. "Full size" and "queen" in a product title often aren't backed by a dimension sheet. If no number is published, ask for one.
- What's inside. Is it all-foam, or foam over pocket springs? Springs feel firmer and more like a mattress. All-foam feels softer and compresses smaller.
- Thickness when flat. That's the difference between a mat and a bed.
- Number of boxes and box weight. It tells you whether one person can carry it upstairs.
- Returns on expanded foam. Once expanded, a compressed sofa can't go back into its original box. Read how returns actually work. Ours are on the Shipping & Returns page: 30 days from delivery.
