Boneless Couches & Sofas,Built to Last.
A boneless couch — or boneless sofa — is built without a wood frame: the cushion structure itself does the structural work, so the whole thing ships compressed in carry-in boxes and expands into a full sofa at home. We make modular sectionals, sofa beds, loveseats and chairs in corduroy, chenille, boucle and more, and sell them direct.

Cloud Couches
A cloud couch is the deep, overstuffed, sink-in-and-disappear silhouette that took over interior design feeds around 2020 — low arms, rounded corners, cushions thick enough to lose a remote in. The originals are wood-framed sofas with down-blend fill, they cost several thousand dollars, and they arrive on a freight truck with two people and an appointment window.
These are the same look, built the boneless way: no wood frame and no freight truck. High-resilience foam does the structural work, so the whole thing compresses into boxes a single person can carry up a stairwell.
What you actually give up without a frame
Honesty first, because this category has earned its scepticism. A framed cloud sofa holds a crisp edge on the arms and back for as long as the frame lasts. A frameless one gets its shape from the foam alone, which means the silhouette is softer and rounder from day one — that is the look, not a defect. What you should watch is whether the foam holds that shape in year two, and that comes down to density. Foam under 1.5 lb/ft³ is what makes cheap compressed sofas sag inside 12 to 18 months. Ours is built to resist exactly that; the failure order we see in teardowns is always foam first, connectors second, covers third.
Cloud couch vs boneless couch — the short version
"Cloud couch" describes a look: deep seat, plush fill, rounded profile. "Boneless couch" describes a construction: no internal frame. They are not competing categories, and a sofa can be both — everything on this page is. If you want the full comparison, including how the price bands differ and which one suits a smaller room, read Boneless Couch vs Cloud Couch.
How these ship
Vacuum-compressed into boxes, delivered by UPS or FedEx Ground rather than a freight carrier. No delivery appointment, no stair fee, no "will it make the turn" measurement anxiety — the box fits where the sofa never would. Allow about 72 hours after unboxing for the foam to pull air back in and reach full loft. It is sittable within a few hours, but do not judge the firmness on day one; a module that feels underfilled at hour six usually is not.
Choosing between them
Go deeper if you lounge, lie down, or watch things for three hours at a stretch. Go shallower if you sit upright, work from the sofa, or have a narrow room where a deep seat eats the walkway. Check the size guide before ordering — assembled depth is where cloud-style sofas surprise people, not width. For rooms under about 11 feet, the small-space collection is a better starting point than this one.
We manufacture these ourselves rather than reselling someone else's foam, which is why we can tell you what is inside them. If a spec you need is not on the product page, ask us and we will give you the number.
Construction varies inside this collection: 8 of the 12 pieces here are all-foam and 4 use a steel spring core for a firmer sit. Every piece is built without a wood frame, and each product page states which construction it uses.

FAQ
Boneless Couch Questions, Answered
What is a boneless couch?
A boneless couch is a modular sofa built without a wood frame — dense foam carries the structural load instead. That is what lets it compress for shipping: across 60 of our configurations the median piece ships 5.6 times smaller than its assembled size, about 56 cubic feet down to 10 (August 2026). It expands back to full size at home over roughly 72 hours, with no tools. Read the complete boneless couch guide →
Is a boneless couch worth it?
For renters, small apartments and anyone who rearranges a room often, yes — it arrives in boxes you carry in yourself and needs no tools. 53% of our configurations ship in a single carton and another 22% in two, and the median configuration weighs 95 lb gross, split across those boxes (August 2026). It is not a like-for-like replacement for a framed heirloom sofa: it sits lower and softer, and the edges are rounder. The honest answer →
What is the downside to a boneless couch?
Three, honestly. The seat sits lower and feels softer than a sprung frame; the edges are rounder because foam alone holds the shape; and cheap low-density foam flattens within a year or two. There is a fourth worth checking before you order: 89% of our cartons are 48 inches or shorter on their longest edge (median 40 inches, n = 152) — so roughly one in nine is longer than that, which matters for a tight stair turn or a small lift. What we would tell you before buying →
Will the foam sag over time?
Cheap compressed sofas often do — thin, low-density foam collapses fast, and visible sagging on sub-1.5 lb/ft³ foam is commonly reported in the 12–18 month range. We bought budget boneless couches and cut them open: the first things to fail were scrap-foam armrests and plastic zipper connectors, both before the foam itself. We assessed construction and rebound by hand and have not yet run laboratory density testing, so we do not publish a density figure for our own foam — we would rather say that than print a rounded-up number. Read the honest teardown →
How long will a boneless couch last?
It depends almost entirely on foam density and how the modules connect. Bargain builds commonly show visible sagging within 12–18 months; a dense-foam build with solid connectors is made for years of daily sitting. Read the lifespan guide →
How much does a boneless couch cost?
Currently $129 to $1,299 across more than 50 products, from single frameless chairs to full cloud-couch sectionals (August 2026). US shipping is free on every order. The easiest way to shop is by budget: boneless couches under $350, or step up to our sectionals under $1,000.
Will a boneless couch fit a small apartment?
Yes, and we can put a number on it. Measured across 152 of our shipping cartons, 93% have a second-longest edge of 30 inches or less — a common US interior door width — and the median is 16 inches; 99% are 36 inches or less on that edge (August 2026). A carton turns through a doorway on that edge, so you are carrying boxes in, not manoeuvring a rigid sofa around a corner. Shop small-space boneless couches →
Can I wash the covers?
Covers are removable by design, which makes pet hair and everyday spills far easier to deal with than fixed upholstery. Check the care label included with your order for exact wash instructions. Read the full cleaning guide →
Boneless couch vs boneless sofa — is there a difference?
No — "boneless couch", "boneless sofa" and "frameless sofa" are three names for the same construction: seating built from foam modules instead of a wood or metal frame. We use all three because shoppers do. Where each name comes from →
